In 2007, German painter Anselm Kiefer was invited to create a work for the North stairs of the Perrault Colonnade, Athanor. This determination declares the museum's reengagement with contemporary art under the path of Henri Loyrette, fifty years after the institution's final order to a up to date artists, George Braque. To host the monumental Assyrian sculpture works brought to Paris by Paul-Émile Botta, within the ground-floor gallery north of the jap entrance of the Cour Carrée.
