Opus Law Firm moves into Rancho Santa Fe village

The Opus Law Firm, a local firm that specializes in commercial real estate and business law, has opened its new office in the Rancho Santa Fe village.

The building on El Tordo has historically housed a law firm for the last 40 years.
In a bit of a full circle coincidence, Opus’ managing partner Justin White and partner Charles Pernicka both started their 23-year law careers at Luce Forward, formerly one of the largest law firms in the country which used to be located in the very same office in Rancho Santa Fe.

Having just moved in this month, the Opus staff is just getting to know the neighborhood, popping into local spots and joining community organizations such as the Rotary and Library Guild of Rancho Santa Fe.

“It’s always been a perfect place for a law firm,” said White. “We fell in love with the building and we love being in the village.”

Originally built in the 1970s, the building used to house a Pacific Bell switching station before it was turned into law offices. Opus embraced the “old school” law office interiors, which included beautiful mahogany walls. They touched up the office’s interiors, giving it a vintage yet modern vibe with new black marble flooring and touches of brass.

White founded the firm 14 years ago and over the years they have had offices in Del Mar, Encinitas and Solana Beach before purchasing the building in December 2023 and making Rancho Santa Fe their permanent home. With six attorneys and four staffers, the firm handles real estate and corporate transactions and litigation, and counsels a wide variety of business clients and developers.

”Even though the practice is global, we’re a local firm,” White said. “We now have our foothold in the community and we plan on being here for a long time.”
